Marion-Florence USD 408 is a 3A rural school district covering 237 square miles. The district is situated on the west edge of the Flint Hills. It includes the towns of Marion and Florence, Marion County Lake, and the Marion Reservoir.
In recent years, USD 408 has experienced the decline in student enrollment plaguing most Kansas schools. There are approximately 500 students in grades K-12 currently attending school in USD 408. Butler County Community College offers a wide variety of classes to residents of the district and Marion County.
Marion is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Wichita, and serves as the seat of Marion County. The district has a hospital, two doctors, one dentist, and three chiropractors. Two quality nursing homes serve the Marion and Florence areas.
